"Sales Consultant" and the Synonyms, by the Numbers

There are many job titles available for technical professionals who work with sales colleagues and customers. Some titles suggest distinct job functions, but most of the titles are used interchangeably. At Expert Dig, we monitor the following:
Conveniently, the majority of these titles are abbreviated as either "SC" or "SE," which are virtually identical when spoken in English as "esee." Hence, the acronym "esee" is used for "sales consultant," "solution engineer," "presales consultant," etc.

SE titles are frequently subdivided with adjectives such as "senior," or "inside." Industry or geographic alignment is also common, such as "financial sales consultant," "northeast area solution engineer," etc. The graphs below ignore most superfluous adjectives and focus on the commonly used titles alone.

"Sales consultant" is the most commonly used title, by a large margin.
