Reaction to The Expert
(Short Comedy Skit)

In 2014, "The Expert, Short Comedy Sketch" was released on Youtube. This was an English language version of a skit that was originally produced in Russian a few years earlier. The video highlights some of the difficulties faced by sales consultants and other technical professionals. It openly mocks nonexperts.

A close look at the video reveals some valuable lessons for subject matter experts, the technical geniuses out there. I think all experts should consider which of Anderson’s action they should emulate and which they should not.

From the Webinar

There are a lot of lessons we can learn from Anderson, the expert
Sales people are trained to always say "Yes." So, solution engineers should expect it
Never start with "no." Worse yet, never start with "impossible."
Experts need to be calm and neutral
When requirements are soft or ambiguous, the experts should always recommend the easiest option
People do not know where your expertise begins or ends. When asked obscure questions, act flattered, not bewildered
